History

The WHWFC Committee are a group of 8 enthusiastic local riders and runners who were keen to align the popularity of biking and running with the opportunity presented by the White Hill wind farm site. The event continues to attract wide support and the success of the event has prompted us to plan this as an annual event.

Such Biking and running events have grown enormously in popularity in recent years and our event is ideally positioned between the Gore Moonshine and the Motatapu Mountain events.

Due to popular demand we have included a new approximately 9km cross country walk.  This is a fun walk and not intended to be competitive. It will treat walkers to spectacular views.

This is an off-road event over private land and a unique opportunity to experience the incredible vistas of the Takitimu and Eyre mountains, open to the public for one day only.

As with biking, running or walking in any off road areas there are numerous unmarked hazards. Please note that you will not be able to ride/run the course prior to the event.

The course is circular so the start and finish points are in the same area – you won’t need to worry about transport.

This year, 2014, will be our Sixth event. The proceeds will be going to various community groups.
