Welcome to Whitehill Wind Farm Classic
Bike Ride & Run!

We are pleased to announce the results
of the 2011 Whitehill Wind Farm Classic Bike Ride & Run!

Another successful White Hill Classic
has the organisers keen to do it all again next year.

The 2011 Classic was held on Sat 5th March at the earlier start time of 10am. Most competitors were happy to start the racing earlier as it allowed them time for other things later in the day. Let us know what you think and what you would prefer – 10am start versus noon start?

The kids canter followed much the same route as last year but we had them finishing through the main chute which the children thought was “pretty cool”. All children received drinks and bar and the prize winners were presented with certificates.

Competitors don’t like to hang around afterwards for long running prize givings so this year we arranged for all the minor spot prizes to be drawn and allocated early in the day. The main spot prize of a mountain bike donated by Wensleys was won by John Andrews.

The racing was hard and fast and all the courses held up well to spite recent heavy rain. All competitors had fabulous views of the Takatimu Mountains and the lush Northern Southland farmland. The wind turbines were powerful and impressive as always.

Mossburn Preschool and the Lumsden group which runs Music and Movement for preschoolers in Northern Southland will benefit from this years proceeds as will Hannah Wilkins who in April is travelling to the Himalayas as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Hilary Award to trek under the slopes of Mt Everest.

Meridian Energy have signalled that they wish to sign a 3 year sponsorship agreement with our committee which will ensure the viability of the event up until at least 2013.

Hope to see you all again next year and we thankyou for your continued support.

John Douglas
Race Director

White Hill Classic is a unique event in that it allows the sporting public the awesome opportunity to get up close and personal with the wind turbines on the Meridian Energy site at White Hill near Mossburn.

Please note for 2011: We have changed the start time to 10am. This is due to the fact that CCR and Dr Hook are playing at Gibbston Winery at 3pm and we would like to give competitors the opportunity to attend both.

For those wishing to compete and then carry onto Queenstown straight after the event shower facilities will be available at the Mossburn Community Centre for a small donation.

BBQ will be operating all day and a bar and drinks will also be available.

Registrations are now open – Enter here!

This year we have a brand new mountain bike up for grabs!

The mountain bike is kindly donated by:

Wensley's Cycles Invercargill

Plus many more great prizes

Competitors must be present at the prize giving to be in to WIN THE BIKE!!!

Spot prizes this year will be predrawn and the list of winners will be displayed onsite. Winners of spot prizes will be able to collect them at their leisure before or after the event.
